Beautiful Book Quotes

Here I am sharing some of my favourite quotes from the books I have recently read.

“You had to love John Cole for what he chose never to say.” – Sebastian Barry, Days without end

I’m reading this at the moment. This is my first Sebastian Barry novel. It’s a historical fiction book, in which the Indian Wars and Civil War are involved. I bought the book a few months ago and it was sitting on my bookshelf for a long time before I decided to read it. I am currently halfway through it and as soon as I am finished it I will publish a review.

“And there are the very special people in our lives who have the endless capacity to love you for all of our flaws.” – Cecelia Ahern, Perfect

Perfect is the thrilling sequel to Flawed. I love both of the books and would highly recommended them if you like YA literature.

“The mother in her believed that the love she had for her daughter was safe from the mayhem of her mind, because it lived in her heart.” -Lisa Genova, Still Alice

It wasn’t easy for me to read the story of Alice. She is working as a professor at Harvard when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She has a big family and she’s brilliant at her work but her mind betrays her. She is slowly losing her own identity and that terrifies her. … It’s a heart wrenching story that will stick in your mind for a long time.

“The best way to measure how much you’ve grown isn’t by inches or the number of laps you can now run around the track, or even your grade point average– though those things are important, to be sure. It’s what you’ve done with your time, how you’ve chosen to spend your days, and whom you’ve touched this year. That, to me, is the greatest measure of success.” R.J. Palacio, Wonder

Auggie was born with a facial deformity and he has spent many years avoiding contact with children his age. He is being home educated but everything changes when he is going to school. The bravery of the 10 year old boy shows us that even the simplest things for us can be extraordinary for someone.

“There should be a disconnect button you can push when someone leaves: you’ve fucked me over; therefore I no longer love you. I’m not asking for the button to be connected to an ejector seat that removes them from the universe, just one small button that removes them from your heart.” – Cath Crowley, Words in deep blue

“Books are more precious than jewels. She truly believed this. What did a diamond bring you? A momentary flash of brilliance. A diamond scintillated for second; a book could scintillate forever.” – Veronica Henry, How to find love in a bookshop
